Meditative Rose
(S. Dali, 1958)
A red rose is a perfect (powerful) of all flowers exist; beautiful shape, strong color with sweet smell and thorns in its stem.
But in Dali’s meditative rose, he only uses a single red rose without its stem and thorn. A red rose is represents (a very strong) love, sex and passion. The red rose is swinging in the blue sky, high above the land which there two people are standing side by side (without knowing the sex of them).
A perfect love, sex and passion are beyond human reality (people and its land), it such as an imagination (which is swinging in the blue sky) of human’s mind (which always hope for every lasting – A blue sky with no limitation).
A perfect love, sex and passion are far away, abstract, can’t not be touch but only can be able to feel and to create by a meditation for a human soul's sake. Dali erase the usage of stem and its thorns to avoid the feel of harm and hurt of (perfect) love, sex and passion. Since in the painting, Dali's was not details show the sex of the two people on the land, the perfect love, sex and passion is not only belongs to couple but for all human's relation with or without commitment.
